Dimday Red TTRPG - Nodus Zine 02

Created by Spiros Drakatos

Dimday Red is a mid-apocalyptic tabletop role-playing game set in a bleak, socially fragmented world, where you can play as a mutant or a faction member, during the last 52 years of life on Earth. It expands on the Powered by the Apocalypse system with custom designed mechanics, meant to give the freedom to live your final days the way you choose! Following an exhilarating year filled with loving support and valuable feedback from our community, Dimday Red is forging ahead, bigger and more mature, delving deeper into the darker realms of the Neu Bonn saga.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Nodus 02 update
about 1 year ago – Wed, Aug 20, 2025 at 05:47:40 AM

Hey all, I wish your summer was (or even better still is) as you needed it to be!

To compensate for its impending end, I bring you good news! The Nodus 02 campaign is eventually out of my hands and in production. That means I practically can’t delay it any more by adding stuff and/or trying to make it perfect :)

Because by now, and understandably, some people will only believe there will be a physical production when they see it with their own eyes, I send you a couple of pictures from the process. I promise this is not AI :D

NOTE: The Kickstarter editor decided to take about 2 hours from my life, refusing to upload the production images I wanted to share. I order to keep what is left of my sanity and not delay this update any more, I uploaded them on Instagram, so you can check them there.

The production is set to take about a month. In the meantime, I am in the process of finalizing postage and exploring the best options to deal with the US portion of the fulfillment, without adding any costs for the tariffs. This proves easier said than done though, as the US administration keeps changing the deals every so often. But as promised I will find a way!

Once more thank you for your patience. I have received a considerable amount of pure-hearted support from many of you through this whole thing and this has kept me going in more ways than I thought possible.

As always, feel free to get in touch with me at any point, here, in Discord or anywhere else you find me!

Cheers,
Spiros

Dimday Red at UKGE this weekend AND a cool update!
about 1 year ago – Tue, May 27, 2025 at 06:25:47 AM

Hey all,

It's been a while since I had something tangible to report, so it is a great pleasure to announce that the final production mockups are done and on their way to me. I will hopefully have them by the end of this week at UKGE. Those of you who will attend, please come and find me at Hall 3, Booth T50.

Now, I have a video of the Collectors box, which came out beyond my expectations! Still, I am a bit conflicted of showing it to you at this point. On one hand, I want you to see that the production process has started and it is of high standards as promised. On the other hand I don't want to spoil the unboxing surprise for you! I am the type of guy who doesn't want to see any kind of trailer before seeing the movie, so I am all about discovering stuff on the way!

Please let me know on the comments below, which you'd prefer! We will go with what the majority decides, even if it is only a couple of you :) In the meantime, here is a still of the back side of the box for good measure!

Hope to see at least some of you this weekend. Stay tuned for more coming soon!

Cheers,
Spiros

Nodus 02 Update
over 1 year ago – Fri, Apr 25, 2025 at 05:03:33 AM

New locale illustrations for Pocket Guide to the Lapse

Hey all,

I would like to give you an update on the progress I have made since the last one, and try to spare you the ancient Greek tragedy (death, isolation, catharsis) that my life has become in these past moths. Those who know me, know that I am a private person and I don’t like unloading my burdens on others. Suffering alone was always the preferred choice for me. So, in two words, since January, everything seems to be going the hard way, and I have been trailing, trying to keep up.

Still, during this period, instead of putting the Dimday Red project on the side in order to deal with pressing matters, I gave it my full attention. I guess the science of psychology would explain this as some kind of coping mechanism, but for me it just gave me meaning in a time I struggled to find any.

As a result, and for better or worse, I decided that I wouldn’t compromise my vision for DdR, just because life saw fit to throw the kitchen sink on me.

And so I went back and re-edited the whole Pocket Guide to the Lapse book, and most of the zine texts. I added 50+ micro-illustrations to the book, new maps, and locale illustrations. I reworked on the upcoming VTT content and created a digital version of the mini-board game. Almost all aspects of the project have been upgraded, both digitally and physically, with no additional cost for backers.

New micro-illustrations for Pocket Guide to the Lapse

The downside of this need for giving the best I have to give, is that the physical production had to wait. For me, this decision was difficult but made sense, as the final product you will  eventually have in your hands will be of much greater value than if you had it already. But I understand and respect that for most people when they order something, it is important to get it at an agreed time, not in an undefined point in the future, however better it may be.

This is where the advantage, or disadvantage depending on how you see it, of deep, personal projects kicks in. For me Dimday Red is not just another product. It’s a piece of my soul, especially at this point in my life. And I know that this will mean something for some people and not so much for others. But not rushing this because it was already delayed, felt coherent with why I left almost everything to create it in the first place.

New character art for the Dimday Red VTT coming soon

Please note that despite all the above, I don’t take this delay lightly. I very much want to share with you the excitement of holding the result of my pains in our hands! The plan is to send the new material for proofing to the printers by the end of next week. They will send me the proofs and then when I approve them go into production. What will happen next, regarding the final delivery, will depend on what happens with the current tariff wars. If they are still in place, I will probably have to bring everything in Greece first and then send it to the US from here. In any case, you will not be burdened with extra delivery costs because of this. When time comes, I will charge the standard delivery costs and shoulder any additional fees myself.

Digital mini board game

As always, I remain accessible at all times, so feel free to drop me a message for any questions, or anything else you need to communicate. A big thank you for all of you who have already reached out. I will post updates regarding the final steps (proofing, production, delivery) and anything new that comes up.

Once more, thank you for sharing this Odyssey with me! In the original story, Ulysses reached his destination alone, as his crew was lost on the way. My wish and goal is to reach the destination together with you, and then look back and feel good for being part of this journey, however bumpy the ride.

Cheers,

Spiros

P.S. Here are some some Dimday Red goodies I have for you at this point. More coming soon.

Nodus 02 production update
over 1 year ago – Wed, Jan 08, 2025 at 01:35:16 PM

Hey guys,

I wish you all a happy new year that brings you whatever you need the most!

It’s been a while since my last update and I humbly apologize for that, but as mentioned in my previous update, the last six months were a very hard period  for me and my family, that came to a close with the passing of my mother in December. This ordeal consumed a vast amount of time and created considerable costs that we struggled to cover, derailing our normal life and many plans—including the production of Nodus 02.

I didn’t provide any updates during that time because everything was so uncertain, and I didn’t want to make promises I was unable to deliver.

As some of you may remember, Dimday Red is a personal project in which I have put my all for the past four years. So, despite this hardship and its repercussions, I am determined to see it through. Today, I resumed production in China, which was halted in October, and although they will have a break for the Chinese new year, I expect no further delays and plan to have the pledges delivered by March.

On top of everything, I deeply regret not being able to deliver by the promised date. It may sound cliché, but I truly value your trust and am fully committed to doing everything I can to honor it.

Still, the Dimday Red project is anything but abandoned. Here are a couple of treats I have in store for all physical backers to keep you warm while you wait!

Dimday Red VTT in Foundry

Thanks to the invaluable help and support of Fotis Chrysoulas, we will have a Dimday Red module for the Foundry VTT. All physical backers will have access to its adventures, in the updated version of the platform, for free.

Dimday Red - Fading Horizon mini board game

While designing the Scavenger Box for the Collectors Edition, I came up with an idea for a little solo board game called Fading Horizon, that will be embedded on the box. You play a scientist trying to decipher the outcome of the Lapse. All physical backers will get the game first in it’s digital form (PDF).

And something for everyone!

The Dimday Red Quickstart v.0045 is here, more streamlined than ever, designed for easy to get into one-shots, and effortless solo sessions.

All of the above will be ready to be delivered to you in the next couple of weeks; I just didn’t want to delay this update any longer.

Once more, I thank you from my heart for your patience and support. Maybe one day Dimday Red will be owned by a bigger company, that won’t be as affected by personal hardship as I was, but until then all I can promise is my very best - and then some!

Cheers,

Spiros
